2002 Trefethen Family Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon "Library Selection"![]() Winery: Trefethen Family Vineyards Vintage: 2002 Wine Name/Vineyard: "Library Selection" Wine Category: Cabernet Sauvignon Grape blend: 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 1% Malbec, & 1% Petit Verdot Region: Oak Knoll State or country: CA Price: $80 Cases produced: 900 KWG Score: 92 (based on 1 review) Ken's Wine Rating: Very Good+ (92) Review date: August 21, 2009 Wine Review: This very dark opaque purple colored Cab was quite impressive. This wine opens with an attractive boysenberry and black raspberry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, nicely balanced, and ultra smooth. The flavor profile is a very tasty black currant with integrated spice and notes of black cherry. The finish is rather dry and its well managed moderate tannins are quite extended and linger. Our group thought this Cab was food friendly and would pair it with beef bourguignon. Enjoy - Ken Winemaker Notes: Rich and luscious on the nose with aromas of roasted chiles, black cherry, and a hint of rosemary. A velvety texture on the mouth with cherries, black currant, and dried cherry cassis and a complexity that you only get from bottle age. A very pretty wine.
