Wine Review: This white gold colored Chardonnay from MacRostie opens with a butterscotch, oak, and poached pear bouquet with a faint hint of spearmint. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round and very bright. The flavor profile a poached pear and oak blend with notes of lemon and butterscotch. I also detected hints of pineapple and a touch of mango. The finish is dry, and its flavors linger and last for quite some time. This Chard will really appeal to oak loving Chard readers. You can drink it on its own and just enjoy its richness. Winemaker Notes: This is our second vintage of Chardonnay from Nightwing Vineyard. It is named after the indigenous nocturnal birds that keep a watchful eye on the land. Combining beautiful richness and energy, this wine leaps from the glass with tantalizing aromas of Honeycrisp apple, tropical fruit, gardenia, and sweet baking spices. On the lushly textured palate, flowing flavors of kiwi, pineapple, guava, and fresh-baked pie crust emerge carrying the wine to a bright and beautifully balanced finish.
