Wine Review: This dark red colored Tempranillo from Verdad opens with a ripe cherry bouquet with a hint of vanilla extract. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, slightly acidic and juicy. The flavor profile is a candied cherry and wild strawberry blend with notes of oak. I also detected some red plum, black pepper and a touch of pomegranate. The finish is dry and its flavors and medium tannins linger nicely. This Tempranillo did benefit from a little air, so open decant it a bit before pairing with a tangy pulled pork barbecue plate.
