Wine Review: This gold-colored Chardonnay from Wayfarer opens with a fragrant lemon, oak, and butterscotch bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, round, and bright. The flavor profile is a chalky minerality and bartlett pear blend with notes of oak and lemon verbena. I also detected hints of marzipan and baking spice. The finish is dry and its flavors and acidity drift away nicely. This Excellent Chard would pair well with lobster tails with clarified butter. Winemaker Notes: Aromas of star jasmine, white peach, lemon zest and meringue emerge from the glass, along with roasted almond, coconut and baking spice. Graceful and subtle in its richness, this wine has plenty to offer. The dense palate is beautifully balanced with fresh acidity and salinity. An elegant chalky texture lingers on the finish, indicating great aging potential.
