Wine Review: This elegant California Chardonnay from the Russian River Valley is medium golden yellow colored, showing aromas of green apple, pear tart, wet slate, toasted buttered brioche, and nutmeg. The palate is expressive and bright with a medium-plus body and plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, lush and velvety. There are flavors of Bosc pear, ginger, saline, lemon curd and lime with notes of mild oak and herbs. The finish is tangy and lingers for a while. Serve this very food friendly Chard lightly chilled with Dungeness Crab Fettuccine Alfredo. - Mark

Winemaker Notes: Always an aromatic treat, the 2023 Russian River Chardonnay entices with fresh baked apples, golden pears, a dash of warm spices, and a generous squeeze of crisp lemon. The medium bodied palate is layered with orchard fruits, crushed ginger, citrus zest, and a hint of brioche. The tangy acidity is crisp and bright, while the slight creaminess from lees aging rounds out the edges into a satisfying, persistent finish.

Winemaker Interview Series – Stephen Cruzan of Lasseter – April 2026

On Wednesday, April 29, 2026, we had the opportunity to interview Stephen Cruzan again. However, this time Stephen is at a new winery. We interviewed Stephen in July of 2023 when he was the winemaker at Titus. Now Stephen is the winemaker for Lasseter. During the interview we covered three white wines. A 2023 Sauvignon Blanc, a 2023 Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon blend, and a 2023 Chardonnay. On the red side we covered a 2021 Merlot, a 2023 Malbec, a 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon, and finally their 2021 and 2023 Syrah’s from Moon Mountain. On Wednesday, April 1, 2026, we interviewed Melissa Stackhouse once again. Melissa is the Winemaker at Dutton Goldfield.
