Wine Review: This elegant north coast California Pinot Noir from Theopolis has a vibrant bouquet of red raspberry, leather, mushroom, and violets. In the glass, it's a brilliant deep ruby color. While on the palate it is medium bodied, with medium-plus acid, nice freshness, and a very smooth mouthfeel. There are flavors of black plum, cedar, clove, blackberry, and black tea along with notes of crushed stone, cherry compote, and tobacco. There are firm tannins that linger in the dry finish. Serve with white bean, tomato, and hot sausage orecchiette. - Mark

Winemaker Notes: Red garnet colored. Wild strawberry, vanilla, and subtle notes of toasty baking spice enliven the bouquet of this beautifully elegant Pinot Noir. The palate opens with jammy strawberry and firm tannins that are accented by notes of black tea and bright acidity. The wine finishes with warmth and lingering complexity. Pair with pork tenderloin, roasted vegetables, seared salmon, and grilled chicken.

Winemaker Interview Series – Brian Pruett – Dry Creek Vineyard – Feb 2026

On Wednesday, February 25, 2026, we interviewed Brian Pruett. Brian is the winemaker at Dry Creek Vineyard. We covered eight wines during the visit. We started with Chenin Blanc and a single vineyard Sauvignon Blanc, both from the 2024 vintage. Then we tried three single-vineyard and one historic-field-blend Zinfandel from the 2022 vintage. As you will recall, we really liked 2022 as a Zinfandel vintage. Finally, we wrapped up with their 2021 Red Blend and their flagship Cabernet Sauvignon from the 2022 vintage. It was a great tasting and a lot of fun. In this post, you can learn what we learned about Brian and the history of the winery and read our reviews of all of these impressive wines. Winemaker Interview Series – Julien Howsepian – Kosta Browne – Feb 2026

On Wednesday, February 11, 2026, we interviewed Julien Howsepian. Julien is the winemaker at Kosta Browne Winery. We covered nine wines during our visit. We started with a 2023 vintage Chardonnay. Then we tried two AVA focused Pinot Noir from 2023 and followed that up with two single vineyard 2023 Pinot Noirs. We concluded the tasting with a mini-vertical of 2022 and 2023 vintage Pinots from Volnay and Beaune. It was a terrific and very interesting portfolio tasting. In this post, you can learn what we learned about Julien, the history of Kosta Browne and read our reviews of all of these impressive wines. Read This Blog Post
