Wine Review: This very dark garnet colored kitchen sink Bordeaux grape-based blend from Stellenbosch in South Africa opens with a cedar influenced black currant and black licorice bouquet. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with integrated plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, super smooth, seamless, and layered. The flavor profile is an Australian black licorice, graphite, and black tea blend with notes of oak and tar. The finish is quite dry, and its flavors, acidity and very dusty tannins stick around for a very long time. This South African red blend is a good mixture of power and finesse. I would pair it with a grilled hanger steak. Enjoy – Ken

Winemaker Notes: A mélange of red and dark berry fruits of plum, strawberry, and wild berries. The palate is smooth with juicy fruit, has a dry yet integrated tannin structure and shows great balance between the fruit, wood, and acidity. Pair with oxtail stew with herbs and red wine on polenta.
