Wine Review: This opaque and midnight purple colored Syrah from Jambe de Bois opens with a relatively mild blueberry bouquet with hints of cocoa, blackberry, and licorice. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with integrated plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, concentrated, and dense. The flavor profile is a blackberry and black licorice blend with notes of espresso, stewed black plum, and Baker’s chocolate. We also detected hints of clove, tobacco, black pepper, graphite, and oak. It is very complex. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and bold dusty tannins stick around for a very long time. We would decant the Syrah for a while before paring it with burnt ends or a grilled hanger steak. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Organically farmed at the Foxy and the Hounds Vineyard. 2023 Syrah is a youthful purple color, fermented with 25% whole clusters, followed by 14 months in 95% new French oak. It’s savory with notes of black olive, preserved black plums dark berries, crushed lavender, and turned earth. It’s full-bodied, with a ripe feel, it’s approachable, and its ripe tannins don’t take over. It has just a hint of chewiness but is very nicely detailed and has a toasted perfume of oak spice on the finish.
