Wine Review: This clear and orangish pink colored Rosé from Barrel Oak in Virgina is made from Chambourcin and Seyval Blanc grapes. It opens with a strawberry and watermelon bouquet with hints of peach and lime. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round and a little zesty. The flavor profile is a mild watermelon and honeydew melon blend with notes of saline and maraschino cherry. I also detected hints of almonds, white pepper, and chalky minerality. The finish is dry and refreshing. I would serve this Virginia Rosé slightly chilled by the pool on a hot day. With food try it with chilled shrimp cocktail. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Delicate aromas of rose petal, grapefruit, and lime open the nose, layered with a hint of wet stone that gives this Rosé a sense of place. Dry and crisp on the palate, with round acidity and a soft thread of peach that lingers on a clean, refreshing finish. The 2024 Rosé is a natural companion to light, relaxed meals. Fresh oysters on the half shell with a pink grapefruit mignonette. (Middleburg AVA)
