Wine Review: This clear and white gold colored Gewürztraminer from Boundary Breaks opens with an inviting lychee and rose petal bouquet with hints of ginger. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with integrated medium acidity. The mouthfeel is round and off dry. The flavor profile is a lychee and white peach blend with notes of candied ginger and cinnamon. I also detected hints of tangerine and clove. The finish remains off dry, and its flavors and acidity linger nicely. I would pair this Gewürz with chicken Normandy. Enjoy - Ken

Winemaker Notes: Many consumers who enjoy Gewürztraminer will appreciate the distinctive character of this wine. It has the floral qualities common to Gewürztraminer, but not so much to be overwhelming. These wines pair well with strongly seasoned foods typical of Asian or Indian cuisines.

The fall is a perfect time to plan a visit to Virginia Wine country. Ken and the KWG Tasting Panel have been covering the winning wines from the Virginia Governor’s Cup for years. On Thursday, May 28, 2026, we had the opportunity to interview Jeff Gaffner again. Jeff is the winemaker and owner of Saxon Brown Wines. During the interview, we covered four single-vineyard 2023 Chardonnays, three Pinot Noirs, a cuvee, and two single-vineyard offerings, also from the 2023 vintage.
