Wine Review: This clear and medium ruby colored Pinot Noir from Merry Edwards opens with a black plum and cherry bouquet with hints of loam. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is well-balanced, smooth, and seamless. The flavor profile is a stone dust and plum blend with notes of nutmeg and tobacco. We also detected hints of mild black cherry-cola, graphite, and cedar. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity and well-managed mild tannins are nicely sustained. This approachable and versatile Pinot would be a terrific glass pour option in a fine restaurant. With food pair it with coq au vin or cedar plank salmon. Enjoy - KWGTP

Winemaker Notes: Our Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir is a textbook example of the fine wines that come from grapes grown near our coastal boundaries. Cooling fog and our proximity to the Pacific Ocean allow fruit to ripen slowly and evenly. The 2023 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir opens with gentle aromas of cedar, vanilla and Bing cherry that are followed by floral notes of freesia and violets. Spicy white pepper and bramble precede the silky entry. The palate is mouthwatering and structured, with uplifting flavors of Rainier cherry pie, blood orange zest and wild strawberries. The finish is marked by pleasant, lingering citrus notes.
