Wine Review: This slightly hazy and dark ruby colored Cabernet Franc and Petite Verdot based blend from Jefferson Vineyards in Virginia opens with a violet and graphite bouquet with hints of black plum, red bell pepper, and cedar. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced and round. The flavor profile is a black cherry and graphite blend with notes of candied lavender and strawberry. I also detected hints of vanilla, spice, and orange zest. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and refined mild tannins drift away nicely. I would pair this approachable and food friendly red blend with cherry amaretto chicken. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Prominent French oak barrel notes, plum, and hints of pecan on the nose, with flavors of cherry, and spice. Lengthy tannins on the finish with more flavors of red fruit. Aging: 8-10 years. The vibrant acid and lengthy tannins make this wine an ideal pair with roast or grilled beef dishes, as well as pork tenderloin.
