Wine Review: This clear and pale straw colored Fumé Blanc from Merriam opens with a shy lemon verbena and mild pear bouquet with hints of oak and banana. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, smooth, and slightly viscous. The flavor profile is an Anjou pear and banana blend with notes of mild lemon verbena and green tea. I also detected hints of oak and just a touch of grilled pineapple at the very end. The finish is dry, and its flavors, and acidity drift away nicely. This food friendly Fumé Blanc will appeal to Chard drinkers. I would pair it with food for sure. It would go great with crab cakes. Enjoy – Ken

Winemaker Notes: The Danielle’s Fume Blanc opens with a lifted and aromatic nose, showing lychee and spearmint interwoven with subtle ginger and honey. The palate is bright and layered, carrying flavors of sweet red pepper, fresh granny smith apple and lemon curd. Aging sur lie for 12 months in French oak (35% new) contributes a gentle weight and textural roundness without overshadowing its natural delicacy.

Winemaker Interview Series – Brian Pruett – Dry Creek Vineyard – Feb 2026

On Wednesday, February 25, 2026, we interviewed Brian Pruett. Brian is the winemaker at Dry Creek Vineyard. We covered eight wines during the visit. We started with Chenin Blanc and a single vineyard Sauvignon Blanc, both from the 2024 vintage. Then we tried three single-vineyard and one historic-field-blend Zinfandel from the 2022 vintage. As you will recall, we really liked 2022 as a Zinfandel vintage. Finally, we wrapped up with their 2021 Red Blend and their flagship Cabernet Sauvignon from the 2022 vintage. It was a great tasting and a lot of fun. In this post, you can learn what we learned about Brian and the history of the winery and read our reviews of all of these impressive wines. Winemaker Interview Series – Julien Howsepian – Kosta Browne – Feb 2026

On Wednesday, February 11, 2026, we interviewed Julien Howsepian. Julien is the winemaker at Kosta Browne Winery. We covered nine wines during our visit. We started with a 2023 vintage Chardonnay. Then we tried two AVA focused Pinot Noir from 2023 and followed that up with two single vineyard 2023 Pinot Noirs. We concluded the tasting with a mini-vertical of 2022 and 2023 vintage Pinots from Volnay and Beaune. It was a terrific and very interesting portfolio tasting. In this post, you can learn what we learned about Julien, the history of Kosta Browne and read our reviews of all of these impressive wines. Read This Blog Post
