Wine Review: This deep ruby colored Merlot from Mollydooker opens with a blackberry and clay bouquet with hints of bay leaf, iris, and black currant. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with integrated medium acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, smooth, seamless, and fresh. The flavor profile is a macerated black cherry and olive blend with notes of dark chocolate, spice, and oak. We also detected hints of pomegranate, black coffee, and black pepper. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and mild sticky tannins drift away nicely. We would pair this very good Merlot with your favorite bistro bacon burger. Enjoy - KWGTP

Winemaker Notes: The Scooter was named after Sparky, who raced a big tyre scooter when he was younger. The 2023 Scooter is fragrant and silky smooth, enticing with a nose full of cherries and forest fruits. The first sip reveals fresh plum and sweet berries, followed by a gentle hint of nutmeg and cinnamon spice. Finely balanced with delicate tannins, the 2023 Scooter offers a refined complexity that makes this Merlot a true pleasure to enjoy.

Ken has been so impressed with Virginia wines that Theresa and he visited some wineries in the Charlottesville region in October of 2024. We highly recommend that you check out the six Virginia wineries in this post. We will start from the south near Charlottesville in the Monticello AVA and make our way north. Read This Blog Post
