Wine Review: This clear and white gold colored Chenin Blanc based wine from Pine Ridge is consistently very good. The 2024 continues that tradition. It opens with an Anjou pear and lime bouquet with hints of ginger ale and white peach. On the palate, this wine is light plus bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, fresh, and a little zesty. The flavor profile is a mango and ripe pink grapefruit blend with notes of candied ginger and tonic water. I also detected hints of nectarine. The finish is dry, and its flavors and acidity linger nicely. I would pair this very good value white blend with a grilled swordfish sandwich. Enjoy - Ken

Winemaker Notes: Crisp, bright, and vivacious! The Chenin Blanc opens with vibrant aromas of kiwi and fresh cut melon, followed by key lime zest and white flowers. Hints of honeysuckle, jasmine, white peach, and nectarine add depth of flavor. The Viognier lends a luscious mouthfeel with exotic notes of lychee and orange blossom, while the Chenin Blanc provides structure and a signature citrus character. The palate is clean and crisp, balancing refreshing acidity with gentle sweetness for a harmonious finish. The perfect pairing for spicy flavors, such as Mexican, Chinese, Thai, or Indian cuisines.

Winemaker Interview Series – Cole Ballentine of William Cole – Jan 2026

On Wednesday, January 21, 2026, we interviewed Cole Ballentine once again. Cole is the co-winemaker, with his father William Ballentine Jr., at William Cole Winery. We first interviewed Cole when we covered his super-premium Predecessor Estate wines in April of 2025. This time around, we covered six wines from the William Cole winery. We started with a 2023 Chardonnay. Then we tried a 2022 red blend. From there, we covered four Cabernet Sauvignon wines. Those Cabs were from the following vintages: 2018, 2022, 2016, and 2009. It was a terrific portfolio tasting. In this post, you can learn what is new with Cole, learn about the William Cole Winery, and read our reviews of all of these impressive wines.
