Wine Review: This clear and light gold colored Chardonnay from Patz & Hall opens with a fragrant oak and pineapple bouquet with hints of cantaloupe and apricot. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, and slightly viscous. The flavor profile is a clementine and lemon tea blend with notes of pineapple and chalky minerality. I also detected hints of oak, white pepper, and Anjou pear. The finish is dry, and its flavors and acidity show very nice length. I would pair this Chard with Emeril’s crab cakes. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: The 2023 offering is a collection of 23 single-vineyard quality sites that could all be bottled as single source bottlings, including six blocks of Dutton Ranch, various blocks of Sanchietti Vineyard, Gap's Crown Vineyard, Zio Tony Ranch, our estate vineyard, Balletto Vineyard, and Bacigalupi Vineyard. Nuanced aromatics of white flower, lime zest, dried pineapple, and toast delight the senses. A sur lie note of yeast is balanced by exquisite freshness on the palate - crystalline acidity leading to a refreshing “kick your heels off” finish.
