Wine Review: This opaque and deep purple colored Cabernet based blend from Leoville Poyferre is still drinking beautifully. It opens with a fragrant cassis and boysenberry bouquet with hints of violets, matchstick, and wet gravel. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is very well-balanced, super smooth, and polished. The flavor profile is a cassis and oolong tea blend with notes of mild licorice and stone dust. We also detected hints of cherry and t touch of pecan at the very end. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and refined tannins drift away nicely. We would pair this sophisticated St.-Julien based wine with filet mignon. Enjoy - KWGTP
