Wine Review: This zesty white blend of mostly Chardonnay with some Pinot Bianco from Tuscany, Italy is a medium straw yellow color. It opens with reserved aromas of golden delicious apple, lemon zest, and pineapple. It is slighlty creamy on the palate, with a medium-plus body and medium-plus acidity. The mouthfeel displays good balance and is bright and savory. There are flavors of yellow apple, white peach, stony minerality and lime zest along with notes of oak and chamomile tea. The finish is dry, fresh, and lingering. Serve this food friendly white blend chilled with pasta alla ruota with mushrooms. - Mark

Winemaker Notes: Pomino Bianco 2024 is set apart by its wonderful, intense straw yellow color. The nose is characterized by floral notes reminiscent of hawthorn, white wisteria and magnolia, as we l as fruity hints such as apple, pear and fresh citrus. On the palate, the creamy sensation from the partial fermentation in wood is accompanied by a beautiful freshness, sapidity and minerality. It offers a fine balance between taste and aroma.

A Visit To Virginia Wine Country – Fall 2026

The fall is a perfect time to plan a visit to Virginia Wine country. Ken and the KWG Tasting Panel have been covering the winning wines from the Virginia Governor’s Cup for years. On Thursday, May 28, 2026, we had the opportunity to interview Jeff Gaffner again. Jeff is the winemaker and owner of Saxon Brown Wines. During the interview, we covered four single-vineyard 2023 Chardonnays, three Pinot Noirs, a cuvee, and two single-vineyard offerings, also from the 2023 vintage. Winemaker Interview Series - Joel Peterson of Once & Future - May 2026

On Wednesday, May 13, 2026, we had the opportunity to interview Joel Peterson again. Joel is the winemaker and owner of Once & Future Wines.
