Wine Review: This cloudy and dark ruby colored Zinfandel from Robert Biale opens with a new leather and black raspberry, bouquet with hints of red plum, craisin, and rose petals. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, very smooth, and shows tremendous finesse for a Zin. The flavor profile is a gentle black plum and cola blend with notes of raspberry coulis and herbal tea. We also detected hints of red licorice, clove, and cedar. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and fine-grained tannins drift away nicely. We would pair this Zin with a Jägerschnitzel ("hunter's schnitzel") smothered with a creamy brown mushroom sauce or with smoked turkey. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Rich and resinous on the nose with aromas of bramble fruits, leather, and kirsch. Enveloping on the palate with notes of cedar, black cherry, dried herbs, and cocoa powder. Persistent on the finish with well-balanced acidity and finely tuned tannins.
