Wine Review: From Keuka Lake in the Finger Lakes region of New York, this brilliant medium red colored Gamay Noir is delightful with a bouquet of red raspberry, candied violets, iris, dried oak leaves, and a hint of banana. There's a medium-minus body with medium-plus acidity on the palate. It is fresh, juicy, tangy, and clean. I found flavors of red raspberry, lingonberry, and white tea along with notes of topsoil and gentle oak. There are light, fine tannins in the fruit focused, long finish. Serve with roast herbed lemon chicken. - Mark
Winemaker Notes: A fresh, lighter bodied red wine dominated by vibrant red current, raspberry and cranberry, lovely aromas of violets and peony with earthy undertones. Partial carbonic maceration helped produce the brighter color and juicy style of this wine which was then aged in neutral oak barrels to further soften the tannins. Gamay has long been grown on the Niagara peninsula but is a relative newcomer to the Finger Lakes region.
