Wine Review: This opaque and dark ruby colored Zinfandel from Mauritson opens with a marionberry and pencil shavings bouquet with hints of cherry, tobacco, and cinnamon. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, smooth, fresh and fruit forward. The flavor profile is an oolong tea and marionberry blend with notes of stony minerality and cherry-cola. We also detected hints of black pepper and tobacco. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and well-integrated mild dusty tannins that drift away nicely. We would pair this Zin with braised short ribs and Emeril’s mashed potatoes. Enjoy - KWGTP

Winemaker Notes: This release is our second vintage from this historic single vineyard that embraces – and amplifies all the classic characteristics of old vine Russian River Valley Zinfandel: dazzling wild bramble fruit, incredible freshness and silky tannins. The wine is bright and energetic on the entry, leading to a core of exotic berry with alluring black tea leaf notes. Polished tannins provide a persistent finish. Plan to enjoy this wine for the next 7-10 years, as it reveals its longevity and exquisite beauty.
