Wine Review: This hazy and dark ruby colored Nero d'Avola from Feudo Maccari opens with a black cherry and shoe polish bouquet with hints of moist pipe tobacco and cedar. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is round, fresh and savory. The flavor profile is a stewed plum and violet blend with notes of blackberry tea and soft Australian black licorice. I also detected hints of balsamic glaze, loamy earth, and cedar. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and mild tannins linger nicely. I would pair this Nero d'Avola with balsamic glazed baked salmon. Enjoy – Ken
