Wine Review: This lively 100% Sangiovese from Tuscany pours a deep red color in the glass and has a very fragrant nose of black currant, strawberry, pencil shavings, wet slate, and lavender. The palate is medium-minus bodied and moderately acidic. The mouthfeel is balanced, very smooth, fresh, and savory. The wine has flavors of spiced plum, tobacco, earthy cranberry, and coffee with notes of graphite and orange peel. A touch of fine tannins lingers in the dry, tangy, and slightly smokey finish. This would go nicely with a charcuterie board with assorted meats, olives, and cheeses. - Mark

Winemaker Notes: Brilliant ruby red in color, with purplish glints. The bouquet is intense and persistent with fresh aromas of red cherries, violets, and black currants, with spiced orange peel. Well-structured and balanced with satisfying tannins velvety texture and aromatic persistence. The nuances of forest fruits and cherries which are typical of the grape variety make it easy to drink, yet still intense and elegant.

We highly recommend that you check out the six Virginia wineries in this post. We will start from the south near Charlottesville in the Monticello AVA and make our way north. Read This Blog Post
