Wine Review: This dark red colored Tempranillo from Lan is a very good midweek offering. It opens with a red plum and light tobacco bouquet with hints of maraschino cherry. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, and savory. The flavor profile is a stone dust and black cherry blend with notes of black plum. I also detected hints of light cedar. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and its dusty tannins are nicely sustained. I would pair this Tempranillo with your favorite burger recipe. Enjoy - Ken

Winemaker Notes: Color: Garnet
Nose: Aromas of fresh red fruit, strawberry, forest fruits and those light floral notes that just carry you away. Hints of vanilla and a touch of cinnamon invite you to take a sip.
Palate: Fresh, with enveloping tannins and illuminating acidity.
Pairing: Enjoy it with pasta or rice dishes.

The fall is a perfect time to plan a visit to Virginia Wine country. Ken and the KWG Tasting Panel have been covering the winning wines from the Virginia Governor’s Cup for years. Recently, our coverage has expanded beyond just the Governor’s Cup winners. Ken has been so impressed with Virginia wines that Theresa and he visited some wineries in the Charlottesville region in October of 2024. We highly recommend that you check out the six Virginia wineries in this post. We will start from the south near Charlottesville in the Monticello AVA and make our way north. Read This Blog Post
