Wine Review: This medium purple colored Cabernet Sauvignon from Carmen opens with a musty and funky blackberry and tomato leaf bouquet with hints of black currant and tobacco leaf. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, a little fresh, and had nice light tension. The flavor profile is a black plum and blackberry blend with notes of cedar, licorice, and saline. We also detected hints of stone dust, cedar, and black tea. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and moderate dusty tannins show nice length. We would pair this Cab with porterhouse steak, or with a pepper encrusted Ahi tuna. Enjoy - KWGTP

Winemaker Notes: Delanz Cabernet Sauvignon has an intense ruby red color. The nose is elegant, fresh, and perfumed, with aromas of cherry, raspberry and rose petals. On the palate, it shows red fruit and herbal hints. It is a vertical, tense, juicy wine with fine tannins, intense depth, and great ageing potential.

Winemaker Interview Series – Jeff Gaffner of Saxon Brown – May 2026

On Thursday, May 28, 2026, we had the opportunity to interview Jeff Gaffner again. Jeff is the winemaker and owner of Saxon Brown Wines. During the interview, we covered four single-vineyard 2023 Chardonnays, three Pinot Noirs, a cuvee, and two single-vineyard offerings, also from the 2023 vintage. We wrapped up the tasting with a 2023 Zinfandel.
