Wine Review: This midnight purple colored Cabernet Sauvignon from Mauritson is excellent. It opens with a very inviting mild black currant and boysenberry bouquet with hints of coffee, violets, and dark chocolate. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The beautiful mouthfeel is nicely balanced, super smooth, polished, and seamless. The flavor profile is a very tasty black currant, stone dust, and cedar blend with notes of mild tobacco and black plum. We also detected hints of green tea and blood orange. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity and well-managed moderate fine tannins are nicely sustained. We would pair this Cab with Roy’s rib roast. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: On the nose, voluptuous ripe blue fruit aromas, anise, espresso, leather and toasted vanilla co-mingle with intriguing, sweet dark earth tones. The plush mouth entry is incredibly enticing and complements the summer ripened black cherry, toasted almond and savory herb layers that define this wine. Bottled unfined and unfiltered, this Cabernet is dense and full-bodied with extraordinary staying power conferred by the soil. This masterpiece of Suther soil and Cabernet Sauvignon will age gracefully for the next decade and beyond.
