Wine Review: This clear and white gold colored Chardonnay from King Family in Virginia is for barrel-fermented Chard fans! It opens with a very fragrant oak and pineapple bouquet with hints of Bosc pear. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is round, smooth, and rich. The flavor profile is an oak influenced pineapple and toasted pecan blend with notes of vanilla and Bosc pear. I also detected hints of butter. The finish is dry, and its flavors linger nicely. I would pair this Chardonnay with a chilled crab cocktail. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Opening with notes of hawthorn and sandalwood, this wine is a balance between expression of terroir and delicate oak aging. A rich nuttiness and fresh lemongrass character are carried through a long finish by the elegant structure and acidity.
