Wine Review: This clear and brilliant pale hay colored Vermentino from Raffaldini opens with a light lemon peel and white grapefruit bouquet with hints of Anjou pear and sea spray. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced and round. The flavor profile is a light lime pith and saline blend with notes of white grapefruit and Anjou pear. I also detected hints of kiwi and white tea. The finish is dry, and its flavors and acidity fade away nicely. I would pair this Vermentino with a poached cod with a lemon butter sauce. Enjoy - Ken

Winemaker Notes: Our largest white planting! This is our signature grape which we use to make a wine similar to the wine commonly found in the Italian island of Sardinia. With its beautiful minerality and saline features, this wine reminds drinkers of Mediterranean summers. Vermentino grows effortlessly on our property and when it arrives at the winery there is little winemaker intervention that takes place. It is simply a lovely wine with lots of pear with notes of peach, starfruit, white flowers, and an underlying pineapple note.

We highly recommend that you check out the six Virginia wineries in this post. We will start from the south near Charlottesville in the Monticello AVA and make our way north. Read This Blog Post
