Wine Review: This hazy and very dark ruby colored Pinot Noir from Toil Oregon opens with a black raspberry and pomegranate bouquet with hints of black tea and clove. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, and very smooth for a Pinot. The flavor profile is a light loam, blackberry, and black tea blend with notes of black plum and black licorice. I also detected hints of clove and stone dust at the very end. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and well managed fine tannins drift away. I would pair this Pinot Noir with duck confit crostini with fig spread. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Deeply hued and alluring from the first glance. The nose opens with warm, vine-ripened raspberries and Italian plums, accented by savory notes of black olive and English breakfast tea. Secondary aromatics of sandalwood and subtle spice add further intrigue. The mid-palate is elegant and approachable, balancing mouth-coating tannins with silky fruit and a refined thread of minerality. The finish is taut and lively. This densely structured Pinot will reward patience in the cellar for years to come.
