Wine Review: This opaque and midnight purple colored Cabernet Sauvignon from Titus opens with a black cherry, black coffee, and pencil lead bouquet with hints of blackberry, oak, and cigar box. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced and round. The flavor profile is a stewed black plum and clove blend with notes of oolong tea, blackberry, and graphite. We also detected hints of spice and licorice. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and dusty tannins fade away nicely. We would pair this Cab with blue cheeseburger. Enjoy - KWGTP

Winemaker Notes: The bouquet opens with expressive aromas of macerated blackberry and black cherry, layered with ripe plum, blueberry and juicy pluot. Grenadine and sweet dark-fruit characters add richness, while notes of sarsaparilla, black licorice, sage, and spice provide depth and complexity. Subtle hints of bittersweet chocolate and fig round out the aromatic profile. Medium-bodied and beautifully smooth on the palate, the wine is driven by concentrated dark-fruit flavors with a supple and polished texture. The wine finishes long and smooth, leaving lingering impressions of ripe blackberry, plum and sweet baking spice.

The fall is a perfect time to plan a visit to Virginia Wine country. Ken and the KWG Tasting Panel have been covering the winning wines from the Virginia Governor’s Cup for years. Recently, our coverage has expanded beyond just the Governor’s Cup winners. Ken has been so impressed with Virginia wines that Theresa and he visited some wineries in the Charlottesville region in October of 2024. We highly recommend that you check out the six Virginia wineries in this post. We will start from the south near Charlottesville in the Monticello AVA and make our way north. Read This Blog Post
