Wine Review: This opaque and midnight purple colored Cabernet Franc from DAOU opens with a mild black currant and black tea bouquet with hints of stewed plum and wet stone. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with integrated plus acidity. The mouthfeel is well-balanced, smooth, and mouthwatering. The flavor profile is a stewed black plum and graphite blend with notes of espresso and dark chocolate. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and its refined tannins drift away nicely. We would pair this food friendly Cab with Stuart’s beef wellington. Enjoy - KWGTP

A Visit To Virginia Wine Country – Fall 2026

The fall is a perfect time to plan a visit to Virginia Wine country. Ken and the KWG Tasting Panel have been covering the winning wines from the Virginia Governor’s Cup for years. Recently, our coverage has expanded beyond just the Governor’s Cup winners. Ken has been so impressed with Virginia wines that Theresa and he visited some wineries in the Charlottesville region in October of 2024. We highly recommend that you check out the six Virginia wineries in this post. We will start from the south near Charlottesville in the Monticello AVA and make our way north. Read This Blog Post
