Wine Review: This clear and pale ruby colored Sangiovese from Frescobaldi opens with a black cherry and black raspberry bouquet with hints of black tea and licorice. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, round, approachable, and fresh. The flavor profile is a stony minerality and black plum blend with notes of gentle oak, spice, and black cherry. I also detected hints of licorice and lingonberry. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity and well-managed moderate dusty tannins are nicely sustained. I would pair this very food friendly and very good value Sangiovese with Italian briciole. Enjoy - Ken

Winemaker Notes: Bright in color with medium intensity, showing vibrant purplish-red reflections. On the nose, it opens with aromas of small red berries and pomegranate juice, accompanied by the unmistakable violet note typical of quality Sangiovese. Subtle hints of vanilla and delicate oak tones from a well-judged, unobtrusive ageing in wood enrich the aromatic profile. On the palate, the entry is lively and well-balanced. The taste is expressive and crisp, revealing sweet notes of ripe cherry, plum jam, and nuances of licorice on the finish. The body is dynamic and elegant, supported by well-defined tannins and a smooth, enveloping texture. A fresh streak of acidity carries the persistent finish, leaving a pleasant desire to return to the glass.
