Wine Review: This clear and deep garnet colored “Chianti Classico” from Brancaia opens with a black cherry and cedar saw dust bouquet with hints of red licorice and sage. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, seamless, and bright. The flavor profile is a black cherry and stony minerality blend with notes of black tea and blackberry. I also detected hints of oregano and black licorice. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and medium tannins are nicely extended. I would pair this Sangiovese with a three-meat Bolognese over your favorite fresh pasta. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The 2023 vintage was characterized by a hot summer with very heavy spring rains, which unfortunately compromised part of the harvest. However, the grapes have good ripening characteristics, and the wine presents excellent aromatic intensity on the nose, with very floral notes. On the palate, it is fresh and lively, with good tannins that are never overpowering but rather add elegance and a pleasant, long-lasting finish.
