Wine Review: This dark amber colored 20-Year-Old Tawny Port from Taylor Fladgate opens with a toasted walnut and black espresso bouquet with hints of almond and hazelnut. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, smooth, viscous, and rich. The flavor profile is a Luxardo maraschino cherry and walnut blend with notes of molasses and espresso. We also detected hints of Nutella, raisin, and date. The finish is dry, and its flavors and acidity linger nicely. We would enjoy sipping this 20-Year-Old Tawny Port on its own or serve it with a slice of pecan pie. Enjoy - KWGTP

Winemaker Notes: Taylor Fladgate is one of the most highly respected producers of aged tawny Port wines. In the 20-Year-Old tawny, the fruit has mellowed further than in the 10-Year-Old, and the spicy, nutty aromas of ageing are more powerful and intense. It is an amber color. Opulent and voluptuous nose of complex spicy, jammy, and nutty aromas, hints of orange flower and a fine oakiness coming from the long period of aging in cask. The palate is full of very rich and concentrated flavor and has a long mellow finish. An excellent accompaniment to many desserts. It combines well with flavors of figs, almonds, and caramel. It is also an excellent complement for a crème brulée.
