Wine Review: Wow, this wine has aged superbly! It is far more impressive than what we covered when first released. Today this excellent Petite Sirah is opaque, and midnight purple colored. It opens with an acai berry and molasses bouquet with hints of black plum and lavender. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, and dense. The flavor profile is a ripe blackberry jam and boysenberry blend with notes of loam and anise. We also detected hints of oak, mushroom, sweet tobacco, and black tea. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and moderate tannins are nicely extended. We would drink this Petite Sirah on its own. With food, we would pair it with a spit roasted pork roast. If you can find a bottle of this, grab it! Bravo Joel! Enjoy – KWGTP
Original Review 9/1/18 - This midnight purple colored Petite Sirah opens with a dark chocolate bouquet with a hint of dark berry. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, juicy and bright for a Petite Sirah. The flavor profile is a tasty ripe plum with notes of coffee and hints of red raspberry and earthy mushrooms. The finish is rather dry and its tannins show very good length. While this wine isn't your typical brooding Petite Sirah, it is very good. The Panel suggested pairing this wine with Chinese pork ribs. Enjoy – KWGTP - (Score 90)

Winemaker Interview Series – Brian Pruett – Dry Creek Vineyard – Feb 2026

On Wednesday, February 25, 2026, we interviewed Brian Pruett. Brian is the winemaker at Dry Creek Vineyard. We covered eight wines during the visit. We started with Chenin Blanc and a single vineyard Sauvignon Blanc, both from the 2024 vintage. Then we tried three single-vineyard and one historic-field-blend Zinfandel from the 2022 vintage. As you will recall, we really liked 2022 as a Zinfandel vintage. Finally, we wrapped up with their 2021 Red Blend and their flagship Cabernet Sauvignon from the 2022 vintage. It was a great tasting and a lot of fun. In this post, you can learn what we learned about Brian and the history of the winery and read our reviews of all of these impressive wines. Winemaker Interview Series – Julien Howsepian – Kosta Browne – Feb 2026

On Wednesday, February 11, 2026, we interviewed Julien Howsepian. Julien is the winemaker at Kosta Browne Winery. We covered nine wines during our visit. We started with a 2023 vintage Chardonnay. Then we tried two AVA focused Pinot Noir from 2023 and followed that up with two single vineyard 2023 Pinot Noirs. We concluded the tasting with a mini-vertical of 2022 and 2023 vintage Pinots from Volnay and Beaune. It was a terrific and very interesting portfolio tasting. In this post, you can learn what we learned about Julien, the history of Kosta Browne and read our reviews of all of these impressive wines. Read This Blog Post
