Wine Review: This clear and pale straw colored dry-styled Riesling from the Finger Lakes in upstate New York opens with a mild pear and gardenia bouquet with hints of Vaseline and ginger ale. On the palate, this wine is light plus bodied with integrated medium acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, delicate, and seamless. The flavor profile is a green tea and mild passionfruit blend with notes of chalky minerality and Anjou pear. We also detected faint hints of grapefruit and ginger ale. The finish is dry, and its flavors and acidity fade away nicely. We would pair this very good value dry Riesling with Cod en Papillote. (poached cod on the grill) Enjoy - KWGTP

Winemaker Interview Series – Stephen Cruzan of Lasseter – April 2026

On Wednesday, April 29, 2026, we had the opportunity to interview Stephen Cruzan again. However, this time Stephen is at a new winery. We interviewed Stephen in July of 2023 when he was the winemaker at Titus. Now Stephen is the winemaker for Lasseter. During the interview we covered three white wines. A 2023 Sauvignon Blanc, a 2023 Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon blend, and a 2023 Chardonnay. On the red side we covered a 2021 Merlot, a 2023 Malbec, a 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon, and finally their 2021 and 2023 Syrah’s from Moon Mountain. On Wednesday, April 1, 2026, we interviewed Melissa Stackhouse once again. Melissa is the Winemaker at Dutton Goldfield. During the interview, we covered the winery’s 2025 vintage Pinot Blanc and one of their single-vineyard 2023 Chardonnay wines.
