Wine Review: This opaque dark garnet colored Cabernet Sauvignon based blend from Ehlers Estate opens with a blackberry pie and cracked black pepper bouquet with hints of dried coconut and sage. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, smooth, and nicely concentrated. The flavor profile is a blackberry and toasted coconut blend with notes of black pepper and black plum. We also detected hints of flinty minerality, black olive, and a tobacco at the very end. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity and fine dusty mild tannins are nicely extended. We would pair this Cab with slow cooked beef brisket. Enjoy – KWGTP

Winemaker Notes: The 2022 Portrait has an exhilarating nose, starting with bursts of warm blackberry crumble with fresh cream on top, followed by waves of baking spice, mint, sage and crushed rocks. Finely textured tannins underpin vivid flavors of blueberries, crushed plums and wet river stone that wash across the palate, while a cool, pulsating thread of acid lifts and electrifies the experience throughout the entire, impressive length of the finish. In all dimensions the wine vacillates with intensity between the elements, creating a wonderful sensation of energy and tension. Really quite an exciting personality.
