Wine Review: This very dark red colored Gamay from the Morgon commune is a crowd pleaser. It opens with a shy blackberry bouquet with faint hints of black cherry, violet, and cedar. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, smooth, and slight viscous. The flavor profile is a mild cherry and black plum blend with notes of stony minerality and black pepper. I also detected hints of black raspberry and oak. The finish is dry, and its flavors and acidity linger nicely. Everyone that tried this wine liked it! I would pair this easy drinking and food friendly Gamay with pan-seared duck breast with plum sauce. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: This Morgon individual character originates from the rich volcanic soils on which it grows. Although firm and powerful, the tannins show the Gamay typical suppleness. This deep wine with violet aromas will perfectly match all sorts of dishes with great personality.
