Wine Review: This slightly hazy and pale ruby colored Pinot Noir from VGS opens with a very fragrant pomegranate and cranberry bouquet with hints of black raspberry, sage, and cinnamon. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with plus acidity. The mouthfeel is smooth, plush, fresh, and zesty. The flavor profile is a pomegranate and craisin blend with notes of tobacco and black raspberry tea. We also detected hints of stony minerality, fennel, mushroom, and oak. The finish is dry, and its flavors, tingly acidity, and moderate tannins are very nicely extended. We would pair this big boy Pinot with pan-seared duck breast with a blackberry sauce with a mushroom risotto. Enjoy - KWGTP

A Visit To Virginia Wine Country – Fall 2026

The fall is a perfect time to plan a visit to Virginia Wine country. Ken and the KWG Tasting Panel have been covering the winning wines from the Virginia Governor’s Cup for years.
