Wine Review: This deep ruby colored Zinfandel from Ravenswood is a very fruit forward styled wine. It opens with a very fragrant ripe boysenberry and mahogany bouquet with hints of red raspberry. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is round, rich, concentrated, and very fruit forward. The flavor profile is a ripe boysenberry and raspberry compote blend with notes of chalky minerality and black plum. We also picked up some hints of steeped black tea, strawberry, and lots vanilla crème in the mix. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity and moderate tannins linger and last for a while. This young wine benefits from aeration. The longer it is open the better it gets, so I would recommend decanting it for a while before serving it. Then I would sip this fruity Zin by the fireplace this winter. Enjoy - Ken

Winemaker Notes: Rich and velvety with just a touch of extravagance, this John Teldeschi Vineyard Zinfandel captures the luxuriousness of this flavorful variety and classic region. Robust, concentrated aromas of baked blackberry and dark fruit are carried through to the bold, broad palate, joined by notes of ripe plum, blueberry and fresh-cracked black pepper. Well-balanced acidity and structure add a welcome sense of restraint to this medium-bodied expression.
