Wine Review: This clear and very pale white gold colored Chenin Blanc from Calera opens with a quince and Granny Smith apple bouquet with hints of lychee, light lemon, and jasmine. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, rather smooth, slightly viscous, and bright. The flavor profile is an Anjou pear and Granny Smith apple blend with notes of white tea and gentle citrus. We also detected hints of almond, lemon verbena, and saline. The finish is dry, and its flavors and acidity drift away nicely. We would pair this versatile and very food friendly Chenin Blanc with a pan-seared Chilean sea bass. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Graceful and expressive, the 2024 Chenin Blanc opens with lifted aromas of lemon rind, crisp green apple, and a touch of fresh-cut grass. The palate follows with a smooth, focused texture, layering flavors of Asian pear, marmalade, and bright key lime, carried by lively acidity that brings clarity and drive. The finish is clean and refreshing, leaving a precise, citrus-tinged impression that invites another sip.
