Wine Review: This clear and very light red colored Pinot Noir from Calera opens with an inviting cinnamon and maraschino cherry bouquet with hints of strawberry and red raspberry. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, bright, and fresh. The flavor profile is a cinnamon and strawberry blend with notes of chalky minerality, chocolate, and maraschino cherry. We also detected hints of hibiscus tea, spice, and a touch of cranberry. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and gentle fine tannins linger nicely. We would pair this Pinot with braised pheasant breasts with a mushrooms and brandy sauce or with roasted turkey legs. Enjoy - KWGTP

Winemaker Interview Series – Cole Ballentine of William Cole – Jan 2026

On Wednesday, January 21, 2026, we interviewed Cole Ballentine once again. Cole is the co-winemaker, with his father William Ballentine Jr., at William Cole Winery. We first interviewed Cole when we covered his super-premium Predecessor Estate wines in April of 2025. This time around, we covered six wines from the William Cole winery.
