Wine Review: This clear and garnet colored Pinot Noir from Tongue Dancer opens with a gentle red raspberry and red plum bouquet with hints of old and musty leather books. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with integrated plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, very smooth, and mouthwatering. The flavor profile is a stone dust and spiced red plum blend with notes of lingonberry and black pepper. We also detected hints of raspberry tea, oak, and faint tobacco. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and mild dusty tannins are nicely sustained. We would suggest drinking this Pinot in the near term and pairing it with cherry amaretto chicken or with a fig spread and great blue cheese crostini. Enjoy - KWGTP

Winemaker Notes: Brilliant, medium/deep ruby color. The aromatics are intense, offering scents of black cherry, forest floor, and baking spices with supporting notes of bramble, clay, and cinnamon pastry. The palate confirms the nose delivering a red and black fruits-driven core with flavors of red cherry, elderberry, pomegranate, boysenberry jam, and hints of tamarind. The finish is long and lingering with firm yet well-integrated tannins. Medium to full-bodied and perfectly balanced with a supple texture.

Winemaker Interview Series – Cole Ballentine of William Cole – Jan 2026

On Wednesday, January 21, 2026, we interviewed Cole Ballentine once again. Cole is the co-winemaker, with his father William Ballentine Jr., at William Cole Winery. We first interviewed Cole when we covered his super-premium Predecessor Estate wines in April of 2025. This time around, we covered six wines from the William Cole winery. We started with a 2023 Chardonnay. Then we tried a 2022 red blend. From there, we covered four Cabernet Sauvignon wines. Those Cabs were from the following vintages: 2018, 2022, 2016, and 2009. It was a terrific portfolio tasting. In this post, you can learn what is new with Cole, learn about the William Cole Winery, and read our reviews of all of these impressive wines.
