Wine Review: This opaque and very dark garnet colored Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot blend from Tenuta San Guido opens with a fragrant cigar box and black currant bouquet with hints of new leather, fresh herbs, and cinnamon. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with integrated plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, and smooth. The flavor profile is a cedar influenced black cherry and red licorice blend with notes of blackberry and black tea. I also detected hints of tangy black plum, cinnamon, and orange zest. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity and dusty moderate tannins linger and last for a while. I would pair this Italian red blend with Italian briciole. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Guidalberto 2023 showcases a deep purple-red hue with an intricate aroma of lavender, blackcurrant, thyme, and citrus hints. Its fresh palate balances acidity and salinity, with well-integrated tannins leading to a clean, refined finish. While enjoyable now, its density and subtle sweetness ensure excellent ageing potential. Pair with Bolognese and other meat sauce pastas, beef, and roasts.
