Wine Review: This hazy and deep purple colored Cabernet Sauvignon from Sequoia Grove opens with a brambly blackberry, moist pipe tobacco, and black plum bouquet with hints of dried coconut, dark chocolate, and cedar. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, smooth, lush, and dense. The flavor profile is a complex blend of blackberry, tobacco, and cocoa along with notes of cassis and flinty minerality. We also detected hints of Dr. Pepper, cedar, black pepper, and cinnamon. The finish is dry, and its forward flavors, acidity, and moderate tannins drift away nicely. We would decant this wine for a little bit, so the complex flavors all come out. Then we would pair this approachable Cab with a New York strip steak with a red wine reduction sauce. Enjoy - KWGTP
