Wine Review: This opaque and dark ruby colored Cabernet Sauvignon from Merriam is a crowd pleaser. It opens with a blackberry and cinnamon bouquet with hints of stony minerality and cedar. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with medium acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, smooth, and very approachable. The flavor profile is a cassis and juicy black plum blend with notes of stone dust and cedar. I also detected hints of blackberry, cinnamon, and red beet. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and well-managed fine tannins drift away nicely. I would decant this wine as the air softs it up even more. Then I would pair this food friendly Cab with a bison burger. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: This Cabernet Sauvignon opens with expressive aromas of ripe black cherry, blackberry and plum, layered with hints of purple florals and sweet spices. On the palate, this wine is fruit-forward and youthful, showcasing juicy dark berry flavors accented by vanilla and faint cedar notes. Cool nights and foggy mornings preserve acidity, giving lift and balance, while supple tannins lend structure without heaviness. This is a vibrant, approachable wine that captures a polished, fruit-driven expression of the Russian River Valley.
