Wine Review: This clear and medium straw-colored Riesling from Boundary Breaks opens with a grapefruit pith and Anjou pear bouquet with hints of faint petrol. On the palate, this wine is light plus bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, and slightly mouthwatering. The flavor profile is a lemon-lime and mild honey blend with notes of chamomile tea and stone dust. I also detected hints of candied ginger. The finish is mildly sweet, and its flavors and acidity fade away nicely. I would pair this Riesling with crispy Thai rolls. Enjoy - Ken

Winemaker Notes: For this style of slightly sweeter Riesling, we aim for balance between acidity and residual sugar. The Reserve #198 will remind them of those clean, bright, and satisfying sweeter wines. Its acidity will enable it to age and improve in the bottle for many, many years to come. This Riesling is a perfect pairing with spicy Asian food.

On Thursday, May 28, 2026, we had the opportunity to interview Jeff Gaffner again. Jeff is the winemaker and owner of Saxon Brown Wines. During the interview, we covered four single-vineyard 2023 Chardonnays, three Pinot Noirs, a cuvee, and two single-vineyard offerings, also from the 2023 vintage.
