Wine Review: This slightly hazy and very dark ruby colored Cabernet Sauvignon from the Napa Valley opens with a blackberry and chocolate bouquet with hints of black cherry and oak. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is round, juicy, and zesty. The flavor profile is a blackberry and oak blend with notes graphite and cassis. I also detected hints of Australian soft black licorice and black tea. The finish is dry, and its dusty tannins linger and last for a while. This Cab would pair well with grilled steak tips. Winemaker Interview Series – Stephen Cruzan of Lasseter – April 2026

On Wednesday, April 29, 2026, we had the opportunity to interview Stephen Cruzan again. However, this time Stephen is at a new winery. We interviewed Stephen in July of 2023 when he was the winemaker at Titus. Now Stephen is the winemaker for Lasseter. During the interview we covered three white wines. A 2023 Sauvignon Blanc, a 2023 Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon blend, and a 2023 Chardonnay. On the red side we covered a 2021 Merlot, a 2023 Malbec, a 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon, and finally their 2021 and 2023 Syrah’s from Moon Mountain. On Wednesday, April 1, 2026, we interviewed Melissa Stackhouse once again. Melissa is the Winemaker at Dutton Goldfield.
