Wine Review: This clear and ruby red colored Schiava (Ski-ah-va) from Peter Zemmer opens with a red cherry and pomegranate bouquet with hints of red plum, violets, and light loam. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with plus acidity. The mouthfeel is round, bright, fresh, and zesty. The flavor profile is a tart black plum and mild tobacco blend with notes of cherry and raspberry tea. I also detected hints of pomegranate and black licorice. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and its mild tannins drift away nicely. I would pair this Schiava with a red beet spring salad. Enjoy - Ken
Note: Schiava in Germany is called Vernatsch. (Ver-nat-ch)

Winemaker Notes: Color: Light ruby to ruby red.
Bouquet: Fresh, pleasant, fruity, and characteristic of the varietal.
Flavor: Lively, dry, mild, harmonious, with light tones of bitter almonds.
Pair with appetizers, smoked and cured meats, grilled or broiled meats & mild cheese.
