Wine Review: This hazy and deep ruby colored Cabernet Sauvignon from Ambassador Wines of Washington opens with a mild blueberry and black currant bouquet with hints of new leather and tobacco leaf. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, smooth, layered, and very fresh for a Cab. The flavor profile is a cedar influenced black currant and tobacco with notes of chalky minerality and coriander. We also detected hints of Christmas spices, red plum, and black pepper. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity and moderate dusty tannins linger and last for a while. We would pair this Cab with braised short ribs or beef stew. Enjoy - KWGTP

Winemaker Notes: Brilliant ruby red color. Briary infused notes of licorice, berry, and cherry. Muscular, but smooth and dense. Continues with cedar and graphite from the aroma into a mineral spice.

Winemaker Interview Series - Mike Kobler of Kobler Estate Winery – July 2026

On Wednesday, July 1, 2026, we had the opportunity to interview Mike Kobler. Mike is the winemaker at Kobler Estate Winery. During the interview, we covered two 2024 rosé wines, one made from Pinot Noir and one made from Syrah. We also covered a 2023 and a 2024 Viognier from the Russian River Valley. Those discussions were followed by a focus on a 2023 and a 2024 Chardonnay from the Bacigalupi Vineyards. We wrapped up the interview with a 2022 Syrah and a 2023 "Reserve" Syrah.
